Paul Eggen, PG, CET, is our principal HMA
mix designer.  Paul has over 25 years of experience
in asphalt mix design and testing and is a
Wisconsin HTCP HMA-MD, Michigan DOT mix design
and NICET Asphalt Level II certified technician. 
He is also a member of the Association of Asphalt Pavement Technologists.

 

 

 

 

 

Asphalt Mix Testing

OMNNI Associates provides a wide range of asphalt mix testing services and has personnel with the necessary experience to provide you with quality mix evaluation and sound recommendations using ASTM, AASHTO, or WisDOT testing specifications in a nationally accredited laboratory.

Asphalt Mix Tests Offered :

  • Extracted asphalt content, aggregate gradation, bulk specific gravity (Gmb), maximum specific gravity (Gmm), total air voids.
  • Extracted asphalt content and aggregate gradation only.


Sampling and Shipping :

  • Obtain a sample of the mix during mix production. The preferred sampling method is from a truck box at the plant by a WisDOT certified technician (WisDOT method).
  • If possible, retain a split of the sample.
  • Place mix sample in a shipping box provided by OMNNI Associates. We will also provide sample information labels. Two sizes of shipping boxes will be available to accommodate different sample sizes.

    • Extraction, gradation, Gmb, Gmm, total voids: 10” x 8” box (Approx. 35 lb sample)
    • Extraction and gradation only: 6” x 6” box (Approx. 11 lb sample)
  • Fill out the required test information, specifications and the tests that you would like performed. Also, please provide a copy of the mix design for each mix tested.
  • Ship to OMNNI Associates via the courier of your choice.


Testing and Reporting :

  • Test results can be reported by mail, fax or e-mail.
  • Our policy is to perform the requested tests and report out the results as soon as possible but within 48 hours after receiving the sample.
  • Test results for each mix from each producer can be summarized on separate reports.  This will provide you not only with the latest test results, but also a history of test results for that mix.
