Erosion Control Compliance with NPDES Phase II

OMNNI will be hosting another APWA Click, Listen & Learn session in our
office. This session, titled “Erosion Control Compliance with NPDES Phase
II,” begins at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2004 and is scheduled to
conclude at noon. APWA’s Click, Listen and Learn sessions combine web
technology for the video part of the presentation with live audio delivery
by speaker phone. We have hosted or participated in several past sessions
and have found that the technology is effective and the presentations are
well done.

This topic is currently getting a lot of attention locally as well as
nationally. While there will be some local variation to how erosion control
is conducted in neighboring jurisdictions, all must at a minimum comply with
the NPDES Phase II minimums.

The presentation features three individuals with expertise in erosion
control, and will include:

Discussion of local government’s responsibilities in implementing and
complying with erosion control requirements

Information on EPA’s new Construction General Permit, and electronic
application system

Lessons learned from local governments in how to more effectively implement
erosion control programs

Tactics for conducting inspections and enforcing the ordinances and
regulations already on your books

Training tools for bringing property owners, design engineers, contractors,
and inspectors up to speed on the good reasons why they need to implement
erosion and sediment control measures
