OUR MISSION |
|
To provide a forum to share
ideas, increase the effectiveness of GIS use, and to help develop and promote
GIS data and technology collaboratively throughout the Fox Valley for the
benefit of its citizens, local communities, government agencies and
businesses. |

BACKGROUND |
|
The Fox Valley GIS Users Group was
formed to be a "true" users group to help the GIS community learn
and grow through shared interaction. That being said, anyone can attend the
meetings, but we don't allow any sales pitches from people selling products
or services. The User group's main
intention is not that of selling but of technical sharing and learning. Along with project discussions, we try and
have someone do a demo at each meeting. The focus is on having people actually learn
new things, assist with issues and other questions, gain new ideas, and meet
other GIS users within the community. The group primarily focuses on ESRI
products, but we do talk about others from time to time. The demos range from basic to advanced,
covering a wide range of GIS subjects. |

MEETING LOCATIONS |
|
The group meets on a
quarterly basis, with the current rotation being: |

Spring (March) at the City of Appleton |
|
In discussion, the group decided
to do the winter meeting in January just after the first of the year to get
past all the holiday events, vacations, year-end requirements, etc. The winter meeting is less formal than the
other quarterly meetings and is intended to serve as a social time to meet
other members and discuss what demo's or activities the group would be
interested in for the upcoming quarterly sessions. There is no formal agenda for this meeting. |
