Edgewood Village, Oshkosh, Wisconsin

OMNNI provided surveying services for Edgewood Village, the first conservation subdivision to be developed in the City of Oshkosh, and one of the first in the Fox Valley area. Unlike traditional subdivisions, where a piece of land is divided into lots until the entire property is consumed for development, conservation subdivisions offer an alternative approach. In a conservation subdivision, much of the property is permanently protected from development. Edgewood Village incorporated the following conservation and environmentally friendly alternatives:

  • Clustered residential lots
  • Considerable green space, open area and scenic views
  • Preservation of waterways and natural features
  • Less impervious areas / narrower hard surface streets
  • Walking trails connecting areas of the subdivision and proposed future development areas
  • Stormwater detention areas that will become amenities to the development as well as to the general vicinity

OMNNI earned the First Place Ribbon in the Subdivision/Plat Category from the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors for its detailed map.

Crestview Conservation Subdivision,
Town of Greenville, Wisconsin

Provided survey mapping for a 75-acre, 60-lot single family residential conservation subdivision, the first of its kind in the Town of Greenville. Typical lot size is about one-half acre. Almost all natural features will be reserved for open green space. Over 40% of the land area will not be developed into lots and streets. Instead, most will be set aside for use by the owners or left in its natural state.

The green space will include a former gravel quarry which is now well vegetated and has many 20 to 30 foot tall trees, three natural wetland areas, a 50-foot wide green strip around the perimeter of the subdivision, direct access to green space and walking trail areas for almost all lots, and two detention ponds. The environmentally friendly subdivision will be served by one large wastewater treatment area and ultimately two large water supply wells, rather than 60 ( or one per lot ) wells and septic field areas. The subdivision offers scenic views due to 80 feet of elevation change across the property. Ground breaking will begin fall 2007.

Nature Trail Single-Family and Two-family
Residential Subdivision,
Neenah, Wisconsin

Provided survey mapping for this phased development which now has over 230 lots with numerous areas set aside for ponds, walking trails, and open surface water drainage areas or green space. Many lots have back yards adjacent to protected wetlands, open green areas, or ponds. The typical 1/4 acre lots are served by municipal sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water supply, and paved curb & gutter streets. Much of the adjacent land is preserved park land and will not be developed into lots.
