Country USA Site Plan
Winnebago, Wisconsin

In May 2005, Starshow Presents hired OMNNI to assist in designing the new grounds for the annual Country USA music festival. Country USA is a weeklong celebration of country music and is one of the largest events of its kind in the country. The festival had outgrown its previous location in the Town of Nekimi. Event organizers acquired a 270-acre parcel in Winnebago County and began the process of developing a site plan for the property.

OMNNI facilitated a brainstorming exercise with 14 representatives affiliated with Country USA aimed at generating ideas and visions for the future festival site. Topics discussed included:

  • Site design concepts
  • Facility locations and public safety
  • Stage and vendor orientation
  • Pedestrian and traffic flow
  • Stormwater, infrastructure design, landscaping, and permitting
  • Parking and camp site layouts

Following the facilitated brainstorming session, OMNNI architects, engineers, and surveyors developed draft design alternatives. Upon selection of the preferred alternative, and procurement of necessary state permits and local approvals, grading and construction began in late 2005. The Country USA music festival inaugurated the new site in the summer of 2007.

Southwest Summit Avenue Land Use and Development Plan
City of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin

OMNNI Associates was hired to develop a Master Development Plan for the Southwest Summit Avenue planning area. The project area is in close proximity to the central business district and the I-94 corridor. The focus of the project was to provide the City with a clear policy direction for land use and development within the Southwest Summit Avenue area.

OMNNI conducted an assessment of site history, existing development patterns, transportation and services, existing infrastructure, and current City comprehensive and economic development plans. An aggressive public participation strategy was utilized, focused on land and business owners within and adjacent to the Southwest Summit Avenue.

Following multiple public participation events and numerous meetings with the Plan Commission, City Staff, and stakeholders, OMNNI presented three development alternatives for review and discussion. Following the meeting, OMNNI was asked to prepare a fourth blended alternative which included various aspects of the previous three and evolved into the Preferred Development Alternative.

The Southwest Summit Avenue Land Use and Development Plan was approved and adopted by the Oconomowoc City Council in February 2007.
