Former Wire Works Facility
Appleton, WI

OMNNI conducted a Phase II investigation, site investigation, and remedial design at the former Wire Works Facility which manufactured wire mesh for the paper industry. The facility consisted of a number of interconnected buildings taking up an entire city block. The former machine shop area was heavily contaminated with chlorinated solvents and heavy metal contamination was found throughout the site. OMNNI assisted in placing the site into the WDNR’s Voluntary Party Liability Exemption (VPLE) program and securing a Department of Commerce Brownfield Grant for $170,000 to remediate the site. The facility has been remodeled by the Housing Partnership of the Fox Cities into affordable housing units.

Former Commercial Facility –
Riverfront Redevelopment,
Shiocton, Wisconsin.

Project manager/engineer for a site investigation at a former commercial property, which is located on the Wolf River. The property had a variety of past uses, including a car dealership, service station, and electro-mechanical repair shop. Outagamie County acquired the property through an In Rem tax deed. OMNNI assisted in securing a WDNR Site Assessment Grant to raze the onsite buildings and investigate the property. During demolition activities, an underground storage tank was discovered. OMNNI assisted the County in obtaining eligibility and funding through the Petroleum Environmental Cleanup Fund Act (PECFA) to assist with the investigation costs associated with the underground storage tank.
